Barcelona’s Fire Brigade has been taking part, in collaboration with Barcelona’s Hospital Clínic and the Convent de Santa Clara Foundation to take part, in a new shipment of humanitarian material to Ukraine, in this case to supply a campaign hospital with medical material. This brings to six the number of shipments made since the start of the conflict.
The shipment included two laminar flow cabinets, an autoclave, an oven incubator, two gynaecological chairs and an operating table. These are donations and cancellations, due to replacements or updates, of the hospital’s equipment which can have a second useful and necessary life.
Since the creation of the SOS Ukraine project in March 2022, Hospital Clínic’s aid has been intensified and professionalised, and the hospital’s Department of Infrastructures has created a protocol for identifying reusable materials for organising their collection and shipment.
Barcelona’s Fire Brigade has been collaborating, through Bombers Solidaris [Solidarity Fire Fighters], in dismantling, moving and loading all the material being shipped in lorries belonging to the Convent de Santa Clara Foundation (an organisation launched by Sor Lucía Caram), which it has transporting to the campaign hospital.
