Anna Manso

Anna Manso is 55 years old and has published 55 books. She was born in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, in 1969, and she writes scripts, books and articles, contributes to various media outlets and leads reading promotion activities for little ones and not-so-little ones (in other words, talks at schools and book clubs). She has written all sorts of children’s programmes (Super3, Una mà de contes, Mic, Barri Sèsam) and many series; she is currently part of the writing team for the series Com si fos ahir (3Cat). As a writer, she has published 53 children’s and young adult books, winning the Gran Angular Award for Young Adult Literature twice: once in 2008 for Canelons freds and again in 2016 with Allò de l’avi (Editorial Cruïlla), among other awards. Book number 54 is the young adult novel Violines eléctricos (SM, coming in Catalan in October with Cruïlla), and 55 is Liana i la dansa de l’alegria (SM in Spanish, Cruïlla in Catalan), which is the first book in a new collection (coming August 2025). Un cor de neu (La Magrana) is her first novel for an adult audience. For twelve years, she wrote the column La pitjor mare del món in ARA newspaper, and she authored the book La peor madre del mundo (Arpa). Now, she writes the column Visca la vida! in the same publication. Her personal connection to Barcelona, and especially the Gràcia neighbourhood, is reflected in many of her works.
