Montserrat Roig (Barcelona, 1946-1991) was a journalist, columnist, novelist and short story author who was born during a dictatorship and would later experience a Barcelona that was trying to leave behind the dark days of Franco’s regime. A woman of progressive, feminist ideas, she challenged the social injustices of her time, and her timeless, inspiring voice lives on through her works.  As she put it: “Words cannot be caged; they simply fly away.” And that’s precisely what she did, despite everything and despite the world. She flew high thanks to her rebelliousness, her conscience and her talent. A one-of-a-kind author who shaped our country’s literature.
