Seguir contándolo [Keep the Story Alive] is a book featuring the voices and experiences of 30 journalists who were forced to leave Mexico and temporarily take refuge in the streets and neighbourhoods of Barcelona. Their commitment to the truth had made them the target of threats and attacks that turned their lives upside down. These 30 professionals come from different parts of Mexico and have different stories, but all of them arrived in Barcelona through the “Barcelona protege a periodistas de México” [Barcelona Protecting Mexican Journalists] programme, an initiative sponsored by Barcelona City Council and Taula per Mèxic, a Catalan organisation made up of grassroots activists. The programme provides a temporary oasis to give these journalists respite. This book is a personal, intimate account of exile.
