Melbourne City of Literature opens World Poetry Day with an online activity
Six poets from Australia and Asia-Pacific will take part in the event.
While in Barcelona it will still be the 20th of March and we haven’t even got to bed yet, on the other side of the planet the 21st of March will already be approaching and therefore it will officially be World Poetry Day. So Melbourne City of Literature had the idea of inviting everyone around the world who wants to start such a special day at the same time they do it, and to do so, they propose an online activity: a poetry salon with the participation of six poets who are part of the independent publishing House Vagabond Press.
The event will start at 8 am in Melbourne, so in Barcelona it will be 10 pm. To follow it, all you have to do is register by following this link. It will be live and, according to the organisers, it is mainly for an international audience. The six participating poets will be Broede Carmody, Emilie Collyer, LK Holt, Bella Li, Claire Miranda Roberts and Izzy Roberts-Orris.
Vagabond Press is a publishing house founded in 1999 with the aim of creating space for new writing. For more than two decades, Vagabond Press has published established and emerging poets from Australia and, more recently, from Asia-Pacific and America. Many of the books published by this independent publishing house have won the most important literary awards in Australia, and have been critically acclaimed. Vagabond Press aims to build a transnational context for its writers and to continue to support the production and promotion of innovative new writing and literature in translation.
