Support for trade associations

2018Multiannual measure 2016-2021

Optimum development requires local business associations that are strong and powerful; meaning, they represent a large part of the retail in the area, and they have a portfolio of tools and services that allows them to defend and promote their association members and attract new ones, to carry out tasks successfully and transparently, and also to participate in community and association life in an inclusive way in neighbourhoods.

The City Council should support trade associations through financial support from the annual grants application programme for projects of interest for the area, as well as through other resources and the identification of actions that may be useful, such as establishing criteria for the use of public space to promote associations, keeping up clear and fluid communication with the administration, carrying out specific training sessions (management of associations or other services that may be incorporated again), support for the introduction of practical incentives to set up associations (e.g. getting discounts on services and fees for associated businesses), carrying out studies on the various reasons why retailers are not associated or other public resources that may be used to service common interests.
