Traders in Esquerra de l’Eixample are creating the “De Plat i Tapa” food route

The fame of many well-known food establishments in Barcelona have made gastronomy an important factor in many dynamisation initiatives taking place around the city, including commercial ones. Sant Antoni, Nou Barris, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí are already offering gastronomic experiences in their shopping hubs, with various tours and routes. Now, the Nou Eixample hub, which brings together shops and other businesses Esquerra de l’Eixample, is creating its own route this autumn in the first edition of: “De Plat i Tapa”.

From September 24 until October 7, coinciding with the Esquerra de l’Eixample annual festival and the Ús Barcelona festival taking place at La Model, its traders will be offering their own gastronomic ideas through participating bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Public vote

The traders association is now completing the preparations for this first edition, in which the public will be able to rate the dishes and tapas by voting on their mobile phones, and take part in the prize draw to win a dinner for two and a course at the Ninot market cookery workshop, which is also a member of the association and is taking part in the route. Information about the participating bars and restaurants and the voting system will be announced through the new space that will be published shortly on the association website www.noueixample.cat. The two highest rated establishments in the public vote will receive a recognition award from the Nou Eixample Association.

Gastronomy, and this route in particular, is an initiative that aims to publicise the gastronomic and commercial offerings in Esquerra de l’Eixample. On the same dates as the food route, the traders association will organise various tours of the neighbourhood shops, among which there is also one dedicated to those establishments considered to be "emblematic".

More than twenty restaurateurs will be participating in the first food route, among which there are also several stalls at the Ninot market that offer their customers ready cooked samples of their products.
