A day event is being held this coming 31 January to analyse the impact and opportunities that commerce and digital technologies generate both in the sector and in cities. This will be a round table that forms part of the programme planned for the 4th CTecno Day Event, organised by Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya, and which will broach “innovation in the world of retail: experience in purchasing and transforming businesses”.

The retail sector is currently facing new challenges, such as the role played by digital technologies in transforming the sector, along with the trends, attitudes and experiences of consumers through their online action or changes in the business model.

José Luís Nueno, a lecturer in marketing at IESE and an expert in the distribution, commercial strategies and brand-creation sector, will be the speaker at the talk entitled “Consumer and market trends: the next retail revolution”.

That will be following by the first of the round tables, “Transformation of the client-business and experience model”, with Xavier Mas (Chief Marketing Officer a CaixaBank), Màrius Cirera (Head of Canal Online in Munich), Mireia Armengol (Director of Marketing and Communication at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Spain) taking part and Alba Batiste (Fira de Barcelona) moderating.

The second-round table, specifically on commerce and digitalisation will feature the following speakers:

– Maria Segarra, a director at Intueri Consulting, a company specialising in strategy, innovation and training in retail.

– Guillem Vallejos, a consultant in digital transformation at Barcelona City Council’s Department of Commerce.

– Dr Inma Rodríguez-Ardura, a lecturer at the UOC and University of Miami Business School (USA).

– Joan Carles Calbet, the General Manager of Electro Calbet.

The round table will be moderated by Sergi Marí, the Manager for Tourism, Commerce and Markets at Barcelona City Council.

The Councillor for Tourism, Commerce and Markets at Barcelona City Council, Agustí Colom, will officially conclude the event, organised annually by the private non-profit Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya foundation. The event will be held at the Disseny Hub Barcelona from 9.30 am to 2.10 pm.
