Sagrada Família

Civic behaviour in shops and with local residents and tourists

If we took a step back in time to the 19th century, we would find ourselves in the middle of agricultural land where, in 1882, work began on building the famous Sagrada Família, the Temple of the Holy Family.

The urbanisation of the area known as "El Poblet" began in the 60s, with the construction of single-storey houses among the odd farmhouse, from carrer de Marina to Passeig de Sant Joan.

In the 20th century the area changed its name in reference to the new church and became known as the Sagrada Família neighbourhood. More houses were built, the population increased and so did trade.

Gradually an entire social network took shape around the cathedral, responsible for the current shopping district. A network developed by all the shops, professionals and neighbourhood associations.
