Held on 18 December, International Migrants Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on 4 December 2000.
The starting premise for this commemoration is “the interest of the international community in effectively and fully protecting the human rights of all immigrants, highlighting the need to continue working to ensure respect for the basic human rights and freedoms of all migrants”.
As part of this special day, a commemorative ceremony is being held in the Saló de Cent at Barcelona City Hall on 18 December, at 6 pm, to give the fifteenth Barcelona Municipal Immigration Council Award.
Through this ceremony, the Immigration Council aims to introduce the reality and wealth that diversity brings to the city, and to help improve migrants’ rights, within the context of International Migrants Day.
If you would like to attend the ceremony, open to the general public, you need to confirm by writing to us via the following link: [https://form.jotform.com/233343401136343]
