This is a particularly important time for Barcelona’s 20,000-strong Chinese community. It is also a time for this community to share its culture with the other residents of the city.
In fact, the Chinese New Year celebrations have become one of Barcelona’s most popular cultural events. It includes a parade, a cultural and gastronomic fair and several shows made possible by the involvement of 1,500 volunteers and over sixty Chinese and Catalan organisations.
This year, for the first time, the Porca de Sant Antoni pig figure will be the guest of honour in the New Year’s parade. The event will also be attended, from Paral·lel and specially dressed for the occasion, by the giant leading lady Rosa, accompanied by her “special” friend Armand and other Chinese and Catalan figures.
11.30 am Start of the parade at the Estació del Nord park.
From 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm Shows on the stage located on Passeig de Lluís Companys.
From 10 am to 8 pm Gastronomic and cultural fair on Passeig de Lluís Companys.
