The forum has been held every year since 2020 and is a flagship UNESCO initiative in its roadmap to combat racism and discrimination. The goal of the event is to bring the fight against racism to the fore on international agendas and achieve specific commitments from high-level representatives. The previous editions were held in Paris, Mexico and São Paulo.
Meetings will be stepped up from now to December to set the agenda for the event and the content of the debates, workshops and activities. Topics which the event will seek to address include challenges that transcend borders, such as the boom in extremism, hate speech and fake news, the goal being to study these and come up with feasible solutions.
UNESCO has also chosen Barcelona to host the third Moniacult in 2025, the organisation’s major global conference.
