Alicia Álvarez Vaquero is an Aesthetics and Mass Communication lecturer at the Blanquerna School of Communication and the Catalonia International University. She is also a member of the Culture and Audiovisual research group in Blanquerna. Her studies focus on TV music programmes, audiovisual narrative and the history of Spanish popular music. In her doctoral thesis she analyses the evolution of TV music journalism from 1968 to 2016.
In 2014 she codirected the documentary BCN, ¿sello discográfico? which focused on the electronic scene in Barcelona. She also collaborates with media outlets like Concepto Radio, DJ Mag, Playground, Broadly and Beatburguer, where she writes about urban music, the fan phenomenon, the relationship between music and the internet and the links between the ghetto and the mainstream.
