Ane Rodríguez Armendariz
Ane Rodríguez Armendariz was appointed as Cultural Director of Tabakalera in the summer of 2012 and tasked with defining the general outline of the cultural project and setting up San Sebastián’s old tobacco factory, which has been converted into an International Centre of Contemporary Culture. The centre was opened in September 2015, and since then, Ane has continued to develop the project’s principal lines of work.
Her professional experience at cultural institutions includes Madrid’s contemporary art fair, ARC (where she was in charge of curatorial programmes and international galleries from 2006–2009); MUSAC, the Castilla y León Museum of Contemporary Art (as the general coordinator of the museum during 2010); and Matadero in Madrid (as part of the programming team throughout 2011 and 2012).
A trained journalist, she immersed herself in art management after working at several London galleries. Upon her return in 2004, she joined the team of *Manifesta 5, a contemporary art biennale held in Donostia/San Sebastián. She also collaborated with the Festival of San Sebastián for a number of years.
