The Call for Projects for the World Data Viz Challenge 2020 Barcelona-Kobe is now open
The Call for Projects for the third edition of the World Data Viz Challenge 2020 Barcelona-Kobe, is now open. The dataviz competition is organised by the City Councils of Barcelona and Kobe (Japan) who have been twinned cities for more than 25 years. Participation will be accredited by submitting the Registration form by the deadline of 26th of October at 23:59h.
The competition aims to invite citizens to tackle the challenges of smart cities through data analysis and visualization and use them for the development of better public policies. Dataviz can be presented in different formats, such as infographics, graphics, or interactive maps. The theme of the dataviz presented should reflect a reality or a problem of the city of Barcelona in the framework Sustainable Development Goals, which are aligned with the Strategy for the Promotion of the Agenda 2030 in the city of Barcelona. The projects will be evaluated by the #WDVC 2020 team of judges comprised of experts in urbanism such as Pilar García Almirall, Miguel Mayorga Cárdenas and Montserrat Pareja-Eastaway, in data analysis as Victor Pascual and Pere-Pau Vázquez, and in the impact that digital transformation has on citizens like Albert Cuesta, Verónica Kuchinow and Tere Serra i Majem. The best project will receive a prize of 1.000€ and the best dataviz presented by university students will be awarded with a special mention of 250€.
The World Data Viz Challenge 2020 Barcelona-Kobe is organized jointly by the municipalities of Barcelona and Kobe. On behalf of the Barcelona City Council, the BIT Habitat Foundation is leading the project, with the collaboration of the International Relations Office and the Municipal Data Office.
