Digital Commons for Social Inclusion

Description / Objectives

To put the internet within everyone’s reach.

The project aims to reduce the digital gap and inequalities related to internet connectivity in the City of Barcelona. Under the heading "Connectivity for all" a set of educational, informative and infrastructure modules will be implemented with the aim of reducing the digital gap.

The project proposes specific solutions for a frontal attack on this problem in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods of the city, with the idea of repeating the process in other neighbourhoods. The work methodology is based on the projects produced by the community since 2004, which have produced effective results in combating the digital gap.

In addition to this experience, there is also the expert knowledge of City Council working groups. The collaboration between the City Council and the Foundation makes the project a unique experience in Europe, in terms of achieving a better and more territorially-balanced quality of life in the city.
