Technology and innovation events
Description / Objectives
As a top-flight digital city with a worldwide reputation, every year Barcelona is the venue for a number of events and congresses concerning technology and digital innovation, as well as some of the best-known fairs, including the Mobile World Congress, the Smart City Expo and the Big Data Congress.
All these events deal with top technological themes for transforming the city. For example, the last Smart City Expo World Congress discussed city challenges as important as alternative means of transport, in terms of sustainable mobility, and the treatment of people's data.
During the 2017 Mobile World Congress, there were various proposals promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona that aimed to make the general public more familiar with the digital world, as well as all the programme developed by the Foundation in the congress and the Four Years From Now programme (4YFN). Furthermore, Mobile Week Barcelona was presented. This is a new initiative that shows the potential of art, technology and innovation in Barcelona's ten districts.
