Driving technological and social transformations in businesses is the goal behind the eighth edition of Bizbarcelona, the Barcelona Activa fair for entrepreneurs, small and medium-size enterprises and the social economy. This edition's big new feature is the Biz Digital Experience by Sportmas, a space where visitors can recreate a totally digitised shop.
Bizbarcelona 2018, which takes place on 30 and 31 May at the Montjuïc venue, aims to help entrepreneurs and SMEs to increase their level of competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic and changing economic environment, as a consequence of the unstoppable implementation of new technologies.
The Councillor for Tourism, Commerce and Markets at Barcelona City Council and the Chair of Bizbarcelona, Agustí Colom, highlights that “the importance of this event consists in pooling talent, innovation and entrepreneurship and in accompanying businesses and entrepreneurs with technological transformations”. He also points out that this year’s BizBarcelona will be placing emphasis on e-commerce, logistics and distribution solutions, among other fields, “in what could be a great little revolution in the everyday life of city residents”.
Bizbarcelona includes, among other proposals, 190 talks and activities, over a hundred advice points run by experts, forty networking meetings and seventy exhibitors.
Digital, business and social transformation
Bizbarcelona structures its offers around four major thematic areas: technological transformation, economic and business transformation, social transformation and The Next, a conference space that will present inspiring talks delivered by outstanding speakers.
The technological transformation area applies e-commerce, logistics and distribution solutions, digital-marketing and social-networking tools, as well as the main trends in digital businesses: the IoT and big data.
The big new feature for the 2018 edition is the Biz Digital Experience by Sportmas, an area where a shop will be recreated by incorporating a whole host of digital elements, from RFID labels to screen mirrors. This area will show how new technologies can turn a traditional establishment into a digitised shop and how it can be connected to the online environment.
The economic and business transformation block will play host to the Funding Fair, attracting investment funds, crowdfunding and business angels, and the BizExporta space which will be dedicated to boosting internationalisation through a programme of conferences and advice about entering foreign markets.
As for social transformation, Bizbarcelona will be putting the emphasis on social and solidarity economy initiatives, that prioritise people’s needs before profit and on the collaborative and sustainable economy.
Speakers include Mainat, Knorr and Sciorilli
The Next is an area that will be presenting new trends in the social, economic, technological and business area, and where visitors will be able to find inspiration for entrepreneurship from the talks given by some of the most prominent experts in the field of business transformation. Speakers will include the television producer Josep Maria Mainat, in his new role as science communicator; the Basque entrepreneur Eneko Knorr, the creator of the first Spanish investment fund in bitcoins, and the Argentinian Padel Coach, Miguel Sciorilli, one of the best in the world.
Bizbarcelona’s range of offers is rounded off with Bizfranquicias, an area where the possibilities that this activity can offer will be advertised, in which Catalonia represents 30% of the total number of franchise establishments in Spain, and through a networking programme that ranges from Reempresa activities to a start-up competition.
Bizbarcelona by Barcelona Activa is sponsored by Barcelona City Council, the Catalan regional government, CaixaBank, the Barcelona Provincial Council, PIMEC, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, included this year as a sponsoring entity, and boasts the collaboration of over a hundred entities that make up the BizCommunity.
