How to apply for a municipal subsidy online

The application period for City Council subsidies for activities and services in the city and its districts opens on 2 January 2020. Proposals can be presented online with a valid digital certificate and a printed copy of the subsidy application form, along with the project description and a declaration of responsibility.

The application period for City Council subsidies opens on 2 January 2020. The subsidy call includes a broad array of grants for projects, activities and services at district and city levels, in spheres such as culture, health, education and sport. The subsidies are aimed at all types of people, including children, young people, senior citizens, migrants and people with disabilities.

Applications can be made until 30 January and must be presented online via the Barcelona City Council Online Procedures Office, as set out by the law on administrative procedures for legal persons such as associations, foundations and entities. Online application processes require a valid digital certificate for identification purposes.

After accessing the online procedures site and selecting the option of Barcelona City Council subsidies for activities and services at district and city levels, applicants must identify themselves digitally. After this they need to provide the printed subsidy application form online, which includes a declaration of responsibility.

The documentation required also includes a description of the activity to be carried out, which can be provided by filling in a template online or by creating a new document with the points indicated as obligatory, annexed in PDF format. Complementary documents can be added at the time the application is presented or afterwards.

Additional documents once the provisional list of subsidies awarded is published

Before formally presenting the project to be subsidised, applicants should check through all the information supplied. Once the application period concludes and the provisional list of subsidies to be given is published, the City Council will be able to request additional documents such as a certified photocopy of the statutes of the legal person or a certificate confirming they are up to date with their tax and social security payments.

In cases where justification is required for a municipal subsidy already awarded, documents to be presented include the application form, the economic report for the project, the economic report with VAT deducted, the activity report and the reimbursement letter where applicable.

Users should also have the amounts of subsidies received in other calls to hand and the economic feasibility plan (with expected overheads and income). The municipal subsidy generally doesn’t exceed 50% of the over budget for the project or activity.

The electronic procedure is considered faster and more secure than applying in person. It reduces the environmental impact and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
