The 3rd “Disseny en Família” day is here

Who said that Autumn Sundays can't be fun? The Design Museum of Barcelona is clear on the fact that art and design are everywhere, including games. That is why next Sunday, November 17 of 2019, the institution will organize the third “Disseny en Família” day: a day full of playful proposals for families with kids from 3 to 12 years old. During this day the Museum will also open the doors to all its exhibitions free of charge and the building’s cafeteria will offer menus at special prices.

Taking the newly inaugurated exhibition "Victor Papanek: The Politics of Design" as a central axis, the family day encourages us to reflect on some issues discussed in the exhibition, such as sustainability or accessibility. Through dynamic visits to the exhibition and other collaborative activities, parents and kids can discover the world of Papanek from a playful, direct and close perspective.

Continuing with the philosophy of Papanek towards sustainability and inclusion, the Museum proposes the performance “The Infinite City”, a game to give free rein to our imagination, breaking the barriers which architecture sometimes presents us and working in construction using only industrial waste, mainly wood. The next stop of the day is the “Leonardome” workshop, an activity that proposes us to build Leonardo's domes using only wooden sticks.

All attendees of the day can participate in a giant memory game with objects from the Design Museum. The day will also feature the participation of ArTransforma, a musical proposal designed for all audiences that, in line with the thinking of Papanek, is committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities in artistic, social, cultural and educational projects.

All the activities of the day are for free. Keep in mind that children must be accompanied by an adult. See you there at the Museum on the 17th, from 11 am. to 6 pm!
