The art of Enric Majoral at Disseny Hub
September is the jewellery month par excellence at the Design Museum and the Disseny Hub. One of the most important events programmed is the premiere of ‘Enric Majoral: the Expanded Jewel’, the new jewellery exhibition dedicated to this designer.
Born in Sabadell in 1949, Enric Majoral is one of the outstanding goldsmiths and jewellers on the Catalan scene today. His work is inspired in archaic forms, using the classic materials of jewellery, gold and silver, rich in symbolism and multiple meanings.
Visitors to ‘Enric Majoral: the Expanded Jewel’ will discover how the jeweller’s close relationship with the island of Formentera has marked his creations, which he himself defines as “the essence of Formentera”. In contact with the island and the spirit of the 1970s, Majoral has progressively shaped his own style on the basis of his personal experience, experimentation, the Mediterranean culture and self-taught creativity.
"You will be able to discover the vision I have of the world and life, through my way of making and understanding jewellery", explains the artist.
Enric Majoral is a member of the FAD, the President of FAD Goldsmiths from 1992 to 1997 and the winner of the National Crafts Award of the Ministry of Industry in 2007.
This fall the resident associations in the Disseny Hub are organizing a large number of events. Many of these activities have opened different...
