Barcelona reAct, the economic impulse for the City
From April 13 to 16, the Design Hub will host Barcelona reAct, a major city event to relaunch the city’s economy with the aim of making it more competitive, more equitable and more sustainable.
During these four days, experts and agents from different sectors will exchange proposals and analyse up to 10 large levers for moving the economic recovery: technology and innovation, new mobility, the green economy or industry 4.0, among others. They will also share experiences of other cities, with the aim of weaving a network of resilient metropolises.
The sessions will include addresses by domestic speakers like Anna Bach, of the Open University of Catalonia, or Salvador Anton, of Eurecat, in addition to international guests like Saskia Sassen, of Columbia University & Global Though, or Raphaël Cuvelier, of Ocean & Climate Platform and the SEA’ties Initiative, among others.
Creativity will also be present during the conference. Specifically, with the talk about creative industries on Thursday, April 15 with Ventura Barba, executive director of Advanced Music SL, Guy Julier, professor of "Design Leadership" at the University of Aalto, Jaume Ripoll, co-founder of FILMIN, Judit Carrera, general director of the CCCB and Pep Salazar, CEO of the OFF Festival. This session will be moderated by Anna Pérez, director of the cultural magazine Àrtic de Betevé and will be about how the creative industries can contribute to relaun the economic growth and local development in Barcelona, as a culture reference in Europe and the world.
In addition, Barcelona reAct will showcase the New Economic Agenda for the city for the next decade, the Barcelona Green Deal, continuing with the vision of economic promotion that was exhibited a year ago at the Cercle d’Economia, sharing its projects with the city’s public and its institutions.
As the conclusion, a manifesto will be drafted with the 10 key goals/actions for reactivating the city, a guide for the economic future of Barcelona in the coming years.
