Creative industries continue to grow
Three disused warehouses of the city of Barcelona will become new innovation and investment centres in the Besòs area and 22@. Barcelona City Council has announced the winning projects that will be in charge of reinvigorating these spaces.
Entrepreneurship, business competitiveness, sustainability, end-to-end knowledge of the activity within the sector and social return have been some of the criteria that the council has taken into account when choosing the winning proposals.
The Disseny Hub emerges as a renowned space to add value to the projection of creative industries, the dissemination of the city’s heritage and culture on a global scale. Now, this centre will have two more innovation hubs in the 22@ neighbourhood. One dedicated to urban innovation, managed by the IAAC, and another one dedicated to research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of creative industries. This is the new space to be located in Unit E of Palo Alto, managed by the Joint Venture “Palo Alto BCN XRLAB”, and created by Ingenia Cultura, Arsmediatech and Lavínia Services. It will be a creation and dissemination centre for audio-visual projects that use new technologies applied to the fields of culture, communication, video games, leisure and education, among others.
These centres are expected to begin operating between 2024 and 2025, having an impact on 250 SMEs and start-ups and more than 5,000 people each year.
