Datemats or the meeting point for design, industry and business

Materfad and Barcelona Design Center participate in the European Datemats project of the Erasmus+ programme, a collaborative initiative involving academic staff from four European universities with courses in design and engineering, private and non-profit institutions, materiotecas, knowledge and design transfer centres, and industrial and business development centers.

The Datemats project seeks to design and implement a teaching methodology focused on students who have mixed training in design and engineering, specializing in the field of Emerging Materials and Technologies (ME&Ts), while seeking to foster knowledge and technology transfer from academia to industry.

Innovation in materials and technology is an essential element in improving results. Emerging Materials and Technologies, for their part, are at the forefront of a wide variety of sectors and a channel is in place through which industries can foster creativity. In this sense, an innovative, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach to education, industry and business is needed.

Datemats wants to help strengthen the link between education, research and innovation, thus stimulating social and economic development. The ME&Ts landscape is constantly changing, and in this context Datemats wants to take the opportunity to contribute to innovation in higher education, and to make it a pioneer in knowledge transfer methods.

Connecting ten partners from six different European countries – Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain and Portugal – Datemats will bring together interdisciplinary institutions, such as Barcelona Centre de Disseny or fad, to generate an exchange of good practices, reciprocal learning and development.
