Design can also help to improve the health of the planet

The Barcelona Design Week City Festival brings us a series of proposals for improving the health of our planet by way of the exhibition ‘Ideas for Humanity: Recipes for Planetary Health.’ In an audiovisual format, it presents various short videos in the form of tutorials, instructions, manifestos, individual histories and collective actions that “deal with the problems posed by the current planet crisis and propose solutions from the perspective of design. We designers have the responsibility of acting, proposing, challenging and sharing,” says Patricia Lora, the Corporate Relations Manager of the RMIT University of Australia, one of the experts who have participated in this initiative.

The exhibition is the result of an online international learning project based on the joint work of seventy students and eight academics from various universities: the University of the Arts London, the RMIT University and the Elisava school.

“The aim is to raise awareness of the consequences of the current climate crisis and help people to take informed decisions on aspects that have an impact on the planet’s health and on our own lives,” Patricia Lora explains.

You can visit the exhibition from October 15th to 30th at the Roca Barcelona Gallery.
