The Disseny Hub hosts three exhibitions on the world of jewelry

At the Disseny Hub, a nerve centre of design, we open the new season with three unmissable events for lovers of jewellery.

On the one hand, the Design Museum opens a new exhibition on 23 September dedicated to the first women jewelers who worked in Catalonia in the second half of the 20th century. This is ‘Women Jewellers 1965-1990: Between Art and Design’, which vindicates the contribution of women to the modernization of Catalan jewelery.

The exhibition, which will be active until November 28, shows very relevant pieces of 12 jewelers belonging to two generations: the pioneers Ninon Collet and Mariona Lluch, and a second generation formed by Montserrat Guardiola, Carmen Zulueta, Teresa Capella, Anna Font, Teresa Casanovas, Chelo Sastre, Margarita Kirchner, Ángeles López Antei, Marta Breis and Núria Matabosch. All of them worked in Barcelona and spread in our country the renewing airs of the ‘new jewel’, which questioned high jewelry and understood this practice as a new field of experimentation and artistic expression. Linked to this exhibition has also been published the publication "12 jewelers 1965-1990. Art, design and experimentation", produced by Sd · edicions, with texts by Pilar Vélez, jewelry historian and director of the Design Museum of Barcelona; Imma Jansana, architect and jeweler; and Mª Lluisa Samaranch, graphic designer and founder of the publishing house.

The selected ones of the Enjoia't

On the other hand, from September 23, you can also see the selected pieces of the ENJOIA’T Contemporary Jewellery Prizes, organized by the A-FAD. In total, there will be 13 works corresponding to the Professional category and 13 to the Student category, which will be on display at the Disseny Hub until 24 October. This year the jury that took part was made up of five professionals from the sector: Ruudt Peters, jeweler; Nicolás Estrada, jeweler; Pilar Garrigosa, jeweler; Roberta Bernabei, jeweler; and Imma Jansana, architect and jeweler.

Since 1994, the Enjoia’t awards has acknowledged the most outstanding contemporary creations in the jewellery sector. This makes it an indispensable meeting point for professionals and students of jewellery from all over the world.

During the same days, our equipment will house the JOYA Barcelona Art Jewelery & Objects 2021 fair, aan international fair for contemporary artistic jewellery sector. This year it will be held iwith an exhibitive format divided into two eminent spaces of the city: the Disseny Hub will show the pieces of individual artists and winners, while the Center d’Artesania de Catalunya will host schools, galleries and groups.
