The A-FAD promotes the consumption of local arts and crafts during the de-escalation
The association of artists and craftsmen for the Promotion of Arts and Design, A-FAD, launches a campaign to push the economic revival of local art and crafts, one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, taking advantage of the gradual return to the streets of the current de-escalation phase.
“Supporting local arts and crafts” is an action aimed at encouraging the purchase of artisan products, while seeking to raise public awareness of the creative sector situation in a context where foreign investment will be limited.
Through social networks, the campaign makes a call for participation by launching a series of questions to reflect on the importance of the consumption of local products and the need to maintain art and crafts as an essential part of the community and its identity.
A-FAD partners will be able to share images and reflections of their work and creative spaces, in order to make their task and their commitment to the cultural life of the city visible, while creating the opportunity to promote their products. Other industry institutions will join the campaign to act as speakers, reaching a larger audience. The aim is to promote responsible and local consumption to ensure the proper functioning of the small craft businesses in the Barcelona business network.
Under the same premise of valuing and reactivating the craft sector, the A-FAD has been part of the “Consume Crafts” campaign. Together with the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion of the Government of Catalonia, this initiative has been promoted in defense of the social and cultural values that artisans bring to the city. The campaign presents a series of capsules in a written and audiovisual format that can be seen in television, press and social networks. The action is a part of the post-COVID19 Trade, Crafts and Fashion Recovery Plan of the Directorate-General for Trade.
