HULA HOOP, the protagonist of circular experience at RE/-Barcelona

As in the case of a Hula Hoop, the circular design needs movement to stay alive. Parting from this simile, the second edition of "HULA HOOP - The Circular Design Experience" is launching, promoted by the BDC Barcelona Design Center. The objective of the activity is to inspire new initiatives for the design of fashion products and systems based on a circular economy, where the concept of waste no longer exists but that circularity is present both in the production of goods and services as well as our consumption habits.

This year, HULA HOOP will be one of the most outstanding activities of the RE/-Barcelona Sustainable Fashion Global Event programme, the first meeting of sustainable and ethical fashion in Southern Europe. And it will do so with its own space: HULA HOOP ISLAND. In this area, using elements like earth, wind and air, a scenography based on reused materials will be recreated, generating an environment that seeks to help us become environmentally aware and learn strategies for material recovery and resource regeneration.

Within the framework of the event, on November 29 and 30, 2019, Design Hub Barcelona will be filled with creativity and different workshops that invite us for reflection and experimentation. One of them is the workshop "The power of the conscious citizen: everyday activism through fashion", which will take place on the 29th and will revolve around our role as consumers in an environment of responsible and sustainable consumption.

HULA HOOP ISLAND is a meeting space open to students, professionals and the public in general to generate, transfer and share strategies for recovery and regeneration of resources. You are still in time to make your registration, but if you prefer to experience it as an outsider, on Saturday the 20th the HULA HOOP ISLAND will remain open for anyone who wants to visit after 6.30 pm.
