Social art, architecture and light at the Disseny Hub Barcelona

The programme for this autumn at the Disseny Hub charges on! After presenting the three exhibitions on the world of jewellery, we now present two more exhibitions and a festival.

The first exhibition we present is the international show ‘BANKSY, the Art of Protest, a multisensiorial immersion into the controversial world of this influential urban artist. From 4 November 2021 to 13 March 2022 the Disseny Hub exhibits around a hundred original works loaned exclusively by international private collections, some of them being shown in public for the first time. The pieces deal with different themes like globalisation, war, climate change, the class struggle or consumerism, executed with different techniques like oil, acrylic or spray on canvas and wood. This is a unique occasion for discovering the ‘art of denunciation’ of one of the figures who have revolutionised contemporary art, challenging the system through works created all over the world.

The second exhibition is ‘MIAS, the Making of Making (Architecture)’, dedicated to Josep Miàs and the design processes that were explored in the studio he founded in the year 2000. By way of more than forty models and various experimental techniques, emphasis is placed on everything that happens before an architectural work is constructed and completed. This exhibition is co-organised by the Estudi MiAs and the Disseny Hub Barcelona, and can be seen from 12 November 2021 to 9 January 2022.

And finally, an outdoor proposal. This year the International Light Arts Festival returns to the Disseny Hub and the streets of Barcelona, in a special edition where artists and schools will fill the Poblenou district with light, with artistic proposals based on experimentation and innovation in design, illumination and architecture. The festival will be held from 5 to 7 November and will be staged in various places of the neighbourhood, including the Disseny Hub. This year prior bookings have to be made to attend the various activities.
