Temporarily out of service - BrumRumm!

From Thursday, 27 December 2018, to Friday, 31 December 2021
From 18:30 to 23:00
BruumRuum! is a project by David Torrents & artec3 in partnership with LEDsCONTROL which consists of a ground-level graphic installation that enables a special dialogue between people and public space through noise and light. It is a kind of large ear that listens and reacts to words and sounds. This year it has received the Grand Laus Graphic Design Award, presented by the Association of Graphic Designers and Art Directors of the FAD (ADG-FAD) which recognises the best projects in the categories of graphic design, web and digital media, advertising creativity, audiovisuals, companies, organisations and students. The installation interacts with the intensity of the voices through sensors installed in the square and also with the background noise generated by the city, which change the shape and colours of the drawing created by the lights. The intervention combines colour and sound through 550 LED lights recessed in the ground over an area of 3,300 m². The coloured lights are constantly moving thanks to sensors that pick up background noise. These sensors are at street level and are sensitive to the intensity of noise, so that they capture both the stridency of the vehicles on the roads as well as the conversations of pedestrians walking past them. However, they are also sensitive to softer sounds which result in subtle and delicate movements in the pattern of lights. You can interact with this curious and innovative installation every day from 6.30 pm to 11 pm.
