To mark International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 8 March, a number of Barcelona sports facilities have organised a series of activities to commemorate the day and to demand gender equality in sport.

The programme of activities begins on 2 March at the Bac de Roda municipal sports centre with the talk “El meu fill/a s’agrada?[Does my child like him/herself?] Prevenim els trastorns de conducta alimentària” [Preventing eating disorders], given by ACAB. Following this, they will be holding masterclasses in body combat, R&B, cycling and yoga, and a big zumba masterclass . There will also be a space with inflatables for children aged 4 to 12.
7 March sees the celebration of the 5th Ciutat Vella Festival of Women’s Sport at the Moll de la Fusta from 9.30 am. The event is organised by the Associació Esportiva Ciutat Vella with the participation of 12 primary and secondary schools and 300 women linked to organisations in the district.
Also on 7 March is a talk-roundtable on women andsport, in collaboration with the District of Gràcia. This will be followed by an exhibition match between two women’s teams from the Catalunya Swimming Club.
On 8 March, International Women’s Day, a number of events will be taking place at various municipal sports centres across the city. At the Can Colom and Can Ricart sports centres, a seminar is being held on the Pelvic Floor. At the Aiguajoc Borrell and Estació del Nord sports centres, special sessions will be taking place within the usual programme of activities, such as aqua fitness, aquadance, aquacombat, aquagac, core, zumba, octagon and body pump, among others.
At the Can Caralleu municipal sports centre there will be masterclasses in zumba and toning, and a women’s padel tournament. At the Horta municipal sports centre, there will be a HIP HIP Dona masterclass in collaboration with the Fundació Ared.
Furthermore, at the municipal sports centres of Perill, Can Cuyàs, Estació del Nord and Artesania they will be making a video manifesto for 8 March.
The Sagrada Família municipal sports centre will be offering masterclasses in aqua gym, dance and senior aqua fitness.
