This annual competition not only seeks to recognise the work of women who are united by their passion and dedication to physical activity and sport, but also serves as a platform for disseminating stories and reflections on the role of women in the world of sport. The aim is to help bring about gender parity among all age groups and in all fields of physical activity and sport.
Over the years new categories have been added to this award, such as the Sportswoman Award, the Media Award, the Sports Club Award and the Woman Sports Leader Award. These categories serve to recognise the dedication of people, collectives and entities that have made significant contributions to raising the visibility and appreciation of the role of women in the field of sport.
At the moment, the Women and Sport Award consists of five different categories: the Mireia Tapiador Award for the Promotion of Sport, the Sportswoman Award, the Media Award, the city Sports Club Award, and the Woman Sports Leader Award. These categories reflect the diversity and wealth of sports in Barcelona and serve to recognise and celebrate the women who make a difference in this field.
