Municipal Unit against Human Trafficking (UTEH)
The Municipal Unit against Human Trafficking (UTEH) is a free municipal service that provides comprehensive care to any person (minor or adult) who is a victim or at risk of human trafficking, regardless of the type of exploitation (sexual, labour, forced marriage, forced begging, among others). It also offers advice to professionals and people in the victims’ immediate environment.
The service offers the following:
- Advice for professionals.
- Social assistance.
- Psychological assistance.
- Legal assistance and representation.
- Residential accommodation in coordination with specialist organisations.
The service attends to all persons who present indications consistent with the offence:
- Regardless of whether or not they have been formally identified by the police.
- Regardless of whether or not they have reported it to the police.
- Regardless of administrative status (regular or irregular).
- Regardless of whether or not they remain linked to the exploitation network (efforts will be made to support their disengagement) while assessing the risks they may face.
- Regardless of whether or not they continue to be engaged in prostitution, begging, or other forms of exploitation.
