The Barcelona City of Women project highlights the extraordinary contribution of many women who have left their mark on our city and society in several spheres.

For 8 March this year, all the stations on the city’s metro network and the FGC urban stops are symbolically adopting names of women past and present whose contributions are of great value.

This initiative invites people to reflect on the few women’s names given to heritage elements, streets and squares in Barcelona, and seeks to continue reversing this imbalance, because public space must be able to represent us all and because Barcelona is also a City of Women.
