City residents aged 18 or over and from the EU or one of the 13 countries with mutual voting agreements will be able to vote in the next municipal elections.
The website barcelona.cat/comvotar explains what steps citizens need to take according to their country of origin:
- European Union: citizens must be on the municipal register of residents and on the electoral roll before 30 January 2023.
- Countries with mutual voting agreements: citizens must meet the requisites and be on the municipal register of residents between 1 December and 15 January, and on the electoral roll before 15 January 2023.
The countries with mutual voting agreements are: Bolivia, Cabo Verde, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago and UK.
Anybody needing to complete a procedure at a Citizen Help and Information Office (OAC) should book an appointment by phoning 010 or on the website barcelona.cat/citaprevia.
