Workshop: Discrimination? Face up to it!
Tools for detecting and combating discrimination in Barcelona
What is it about?
The workshop aims to present the principles of equal treatment and non-discrimination, and to relate them to the reality of Barcelona. It will explain the work done by the Barcelona Discrimination Observatory, the results of its annual report on discrimination and the main forms of discrimination it deals with. The workshop also offers specific examples of discrimination that take place around us, and will show the tools available to the city for tackling them, such as the service offered by the Office for Non-Discrimination. Whenever possible, the workshop will be completed with the testimony of an organisation from the Committee of Organisations, which offer assistance to the victims of discrimination, explaining their first-hand experiences of discriminatory situations.
Who is it for?
The workshop is aimed at the city's organisations and civil society and the educational field, and its content can be adapted according to the level of prior knowledge on human rights and discrimination.
How will you do that?
The activity is offered in both in-person and virtual formats, combining theory with specific examples that will be shown through audiovisual resources and the testimony of an organisation that combats discrimination in the city.
How long is it?
1.5 hours (workshop)
2 hours (workshop + testimony of an organisation from the Discrimination Observatory)
