The buses from Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) have been given to the Fundació Convent de Santa Clara and were driven to Ukraine by members of the NGO Conductors Solidaris de Catalunya.

The buses, which have been in service for more than 15 years as public transport in Barcelona and the metropolitan area, will now get a second life providing support for humanitarian projects. Their role now will be to guarantee mobility for victims from the conflict, provide school transport for children, transfer the wounded and provide transport support in large cities. These are standard vehicles, 12 metres in length and with a capacity for 80 people.

The donation is the result of the first public competition for projects of social interest and/or humanitarian action for the free unlimited use of unused vehicles belonging to Transports de Barcelona S. A. In all, 17 vehicles have been given to four organisations for various social needs and humanitarian action: the Fundació del Convent de Santa Clara, the Organització de Regions Unides ORU Fogar, the Associació d’Amics del Poble Marroquí ITRAN and the NGO Conductors Solidaris de Catalunya.
