Implement a new model of funeral services.

Barcelona City Council works to guarantee and strengthen the principles of universality, quality and accessibility in funeral services on behalf of all city residents. This means reducing the high cost of these services provided in the city, which is the highest in the whole country, and doing away with practices that favour oligopolies.

Initiatives such as the protocol of good practices in providing information about funeral services at health centres, the amendment of bye-laws, and the launching of information campaigns to foster freedom of choice and the right to information are among the actions in this respect. Another strategic line of action is regulating access to free and reduced-fee services to ensure that a lack of personal resources does not impede access to these essential, general-interest services, thus guaranteeing the principals of universality, accessibility, continuity and respect for the rights of other users.
