The intermediation service for establishing economic activities in empty premises is part of the Amunt Persianes [Shutters Up] municipal strategy  which aims to promote the formalisation of rental contracts under conditions that are advantageous to both the owner and the tenant. The idea is to raise shutters and provide a response to a problem that is prevalent in all the city's neighbourhoods, producing a positive outcome not only for the owner and the entrepreneurs and enterprises that choose to locate their businesses in these premises, but also for local residents, with the increase in local retail options. This measure also aims to tackle the problem of economic desertification and improve people's perception of the safety, attractiveness and commercial vitality of public space.

To apply for a subsidy, you need to have signed a contract through the intermediary to establish an economic activity in one of the Amunt Persianes empty premises managed by Barcelona Activa, SAU SPM and have the contract validation document issued by Barcelona Activa.

The subsidies are awarded on a non-competitive basis and the criteria for determining the order of access to the subsidies, where necessary, is a ‘first come, first served’ basis, following the chronological order in which applications are submitted, and until all funds are allocated.

Application submission period:  18 April to 30 September 2023 (both dates included).

Extension of the call period until October 31, 2023
