Retailers’ associations representing the sector and Barcelona City Council are working closely to promote local businesses in the city through a series of initiatives for the Christmas season. The goal is to promote traditional cultural, recreational and shopping activities for this time of year, creating a festive atmosphere that helps improve the image of the city streets during this special season. This ongoing collaboration is necessary due to the current general increase in prices and the effect that this is having on the city’s retail sector.

This grant programme aims to continue the city’s support for the Christmas lights initiative carried out by retailers’ associations in the city of Barcelona, thereby helping to promote local city businesses at this time of year, create a festive atmosphere and improve the city’s image.

The organisations eligible to apply for and receive the grants are retailers’ associations based in the city of Barcelona.

Retailers’ associations in areas with street sections where Barcelona City Council provides the Christmas-light decorations are not eligible for these grants.

The application submission period is open for twenty working days starting the day after the call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona.

The application, along with the document detailing the quote(s), as well as any other necessary documents, may be submitted online only, via Barcelona City Council’s e-headquarters.

he quote must be issued by an authorised installation company included in the list of installers published by the Department of Lighting Services, which is part of Barcelona City Council's Area for Ecology, Urban Planning, Infrastructures and Mobility. The list is available on Barcelona City Council’s e-headquarters, together with all the other documents needed for the application.
