Hundreds of people take part in the 25th first swim of the year with solidarity
The Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta yesterday held the 25th edition of the first swim of the year, a Christmas tradition which has become an unmissable occasion for many.
Despite the cold, the Sant Sebastià beach welcomed hundreds of participants who, after a brief warm-up, plunged into the freezing water.
The dip, which entailed a contribution of four euros per person, was in aid of TraCe, the Catalan Association for Brain Traumas and Brain Damage. The money raised, which will also include contributions from Fundació La Caixa, the Barceloneta Festival Commission and the club itself, will be used to help fund the projects by the association.
The chair of the CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, Josep Maria Perelló, highlighted how important solidarity is for this event.
The first swim of the year is more than a swim, it is a celebration f the New Year, but also a chance to help those most in need.
