Conditions

Accommodation and resources

The residency includes artists’ accommodation (maximum 4 peoples) in a house with two double bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and a living room with central heating and wood stove. Exhibition/rehearsal room (80 m²). Residents can use a video projector, sound system, etc. The house is located in Camallera, in a natural environment surrounded by fields and forests.

The Nau Côclea team will put the artists in touch with nearby residents and help them to find the best local services and providers of materials if necessary.

 

Fees

Artists will pay a fee in line with the number of residents and days of residency:

  • 1 resident: 5 €/day
  • 2 residents: 10 €/day
  • 3 or 4 residents: 15 €/day

 

Applicants may also suggest the exchange of the fee for a performance of the project, a workshop or another similar activity. This option will be accepted depending on scheduling possibilities.

 

The residency does not cover travel or maintenance costs and does not include health insurance. It is an essential requirement that artists who are not resident in Spain have their own health insurance during the stay.

 

Submitting an application to this open call implies an acceptance of its conditions and those of the residency. Consult rules.

Selection

Members of the selection jury will be:

Clara Gari, Director of Nau Côclea

A representative of the Bòlit Centre of Contemporary Art, Girona

An independent curator or artist

Selection Criteria

Residencies will be awarded according to the following criteria:

  • Artistic value
  • Project consistency
  • Potential of the project to be shared with diverse audiences

Presentació de candidatures

Artists must send a document (PDF o Word) via email to resident@naucoclea.com. The file and the title of the email must include the name of the project leader. The document must include the following:

 

  • Contact information for project leader
  • Number of people staying at the residency
  • Preferred dates for the residency and alternative options (if they exist). If your dates are flexible or you have alternative options, your application is more likely to be accepted
  • A letter in which the artist commits explicitly to completing the residency in the chosen period and in agreement with the conditions of this call
  • Required spaces (house accommodation/work room/outside spaces)
  • Project description (maximum 3 pages and links)
  • Brief CV (maximum 1 page) and portfolio or website

 

On receipt of the application, a letter of confirmation will be sent. Contact resident@naucoclea.com if the receipt confirmation mail has not arrived within 5 days.
