Grant for artistic residencies. Artistic production in educational environments
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community is announcing 30 grants.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community understands art and contemporary creation processes as instruments of expression, but also as ways to comprehend and reflect upon reality. In the same way, they understand artistic education as an essential tool within learning processes.
The aim of this announcement is to introduce contemporary creation languages into learning processes by expanding the professional field of creators through the production of thirty collaborative artistic projects in at least thirty schools of the Valencian Community.
Thirty projects will be selected, of which at least half will be allocated to creators with roots in the Valencian Community. The projects will be carried out in schools from the Valencian Community, regardless of their location.

Who it is aimed at
Creators, individually or collectively, who conduct their work in the field of participatory practice, relationships, collaboration and critical pedagogy.
At least half of the selected projects will be allocated to creators born or based in the Valencian Community.
Amounts and aid
The total for the grant is €8,400 per project, which is distributed as follows:
- €5,000 (including taxes) for the production of the specified artistic project and any related expenses.
- €3,000 (including taxes) as authorship fees.
- Up to €400 (including taxes) for travel expenses related to the production of the project.
Duration of the grant
Projects will last for three months between September 2018 and June 2019, and will be developed in schools that are part of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community programme.

Location
Schools from the Valencian Community that are part of the programme. According to the project and the needs of each artist or collective, the Alacant Contemporary art Museum (MACA), Valencia’s Centre del Carme, and the Fine Arts Museum of Castelló will be available for use.
Terms
The work sessions may vary according to each project. A maximum of 20 hours of work, divided between several sessions, must be performed at the school. The schedule for the sessions will be agreed upon with the school, depending on the calendar of the school and the availability of the selected artist or artists.
The schools will be selected by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and the Conselleria of Education, Research, Culture and Sports (CEFIRE) by means of an open announcement after the selection of the artistic projects.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community may request information on the development of the project during its roll-out stage.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community may negotiate the coproduction of the selected projects with other institutions in conjunction with the beneficiaries of the grant.

Rights of authorship
The individuals or collectives who receive the grant non-exclusively transfer the public advertising rights for the selected projects to the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community for their publication on various platforms related to the activity of the convening entity, without prejudice to the moral rights the artists hold with regards to authorship.
Those who participate as a result of this announcement guarantee that their submitted proposal is original and that they hold all the rights related to it, including (but not limited to) the intellectual property rights. In the event that the proposal includes rights owned by third parties, the participants guarantee that they have obtained all necessary rights, authorisations and/or licences, thereby exonerating the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community from any claims regarding this matter.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community commits to respecting the rights of the author over their work and to recognising their authorship at all times.
Obligations of the selected party
The successful individual or collective must confirm their acceptance of the grant in writing within a maximum of 15 calendar days from the publication of the decision. Should they fail to do so, they will forfeit their status as the selected individual or collective.
The selected persons or collective commit to executing the project within the period agreed upon with the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community. Any potential modifications to the project must be sufficiently justified and must be authorised in advance by the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community. The beneficiaries commit to devoting the allocated amount of means and materials exclusively to the production of the project and to provide proof of their expenses. They will also be subject to financial control and will have to comply with the tax obligations established by the law.
In any publication, website or other media that discusses the project, the successful party’s status as a beneficiary of the grant must be stated according to this formula: “this work/project has been produced thanks to the support of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community”.
Obligations of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community commits to developing this programme in accordance with the Code of Good Practices in Valencian Culture and to always protecting the rights of the successful applicants and the integrity of their projects.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community will assess, monitor and follow up on the development of the project; will be in charge of coordinating tasks; and will meet the deadlines agreed for the execution of the project.
The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community will be responsible for advertising the project through its website, social media and other means of public communication.
Selection
To carry out the assessment and selection of the submitted applications, a jury will be established in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Good Practices in Valencian Culture, thus guaranteeing the presence of representatives of civil society, experts in the field, and representatives of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community. The members of the jury will be listed in the terms of the announcement.
The jury will select thirty successful projects, plus a further five projects that will be put on a reserve list in case any of the selected projects relinquishes their spot.
Selection criteria
- Adjustment of the projects to the objectives of the announcement (up to 4 points)
- Relevance and artistic-educational quality of the project (up to 2 points)
- Budgetary viability of the project (up to 2 points)
- Innovative character of the proposal (up to 1 point)
- Background of the individual or collective who is applying for the grant (up to 1 point)
Any projects that do not respect the democratic principles of coexistence and diversity will be rejected in order to guarantee the equality of every person, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, language or sexual orientation.
Application process
Each artist or collective of artists may only submit one project. Applications should preferably be submitted in a digital format through the application available on www.consorcimuseus.gva.es/convocatories/.

- CV including documentation for the last three completed works
- Photocopy of ID
- Proof of residence in the Valencian Community (census certificate) for applicants who were not born in the Valencian Community and wish to provide proof of their links to the territory.
In the event that the Consortium requires any amendments to the documentation, those applicants who submitted the documentation within the deadline will be given 10 extra calendar days to submit said amendments.
