Sample of the EN PROCÈS residency at la Central del Circ
On 20 October, Ginés Belchi and Felipe Nardiello will perform a selection from their show "Que me tiren al mar” [Let Them Throw Me Into The Sea]
Processes need time to mature, a time of trial and error and then returning to rehearsals, in order to continue with the process; and it needs feedback, a view of the project that comes from the other side of the stage. But they sometimes also need to generate material so that they can relate to others the company is working on.
La Central del Circ's EN PROCÉS [In Process] residency is designed for projects that are still undergoing their creative process, having completed other residencies, but with a desire to begin performing in public and a need for a place to do so. They need to generate communication material (of good quality, on stage and with lighting) so that they can communicate their process, seek alliances with other institutions, find somewhere to premiere their work and start looking for places to perform once the premiere has taken place.
Before the summer, La Central del Circ completed their selection campaign for the 2023-2024 residencies, giving the EN PROCÉS residency to the duo formed by Ginés Belchi and Felipe Nardiello, with their show "Que me tiren al mar".
At 7 pm on 20 October, they will perform a selection from their creative process, along with a short talk and feedback session between the audience and the company. Admission to the performance is free. It will last 30 minutes (approximately), along with a 30 minute meet-and-greet with the audience.
"Que me tiren al mar"
In a real world full of problems, an island lost in the immensity of the sea, a feeling of not having accomplished anything, a wish to play like children again, everyday setbacks that hurt, caresses that are needed, the reality found on land and the fear of dying at sea. What words are spoken during a burial at sea?
"Que me tiren al mar" is a cathartic, corporal and emotional exploration developed in an abstract, philosophical universe, whose discourse is formed by acrobatic movement and a cyr wheel. A specific beach world, where manipulating objects and physical theatre create the language used in this production.
Within these two parallel universes, two beings seek to travel and come to terms with themselves, from the ambiguity of wanting to escape and reaching an illuminated self-realisation, where the end result, in any event, is "let them throw me into the sea."
