Barcelona Cultura

Barcelona and its postal service

Barcelona’s urban layout, its streets and its buildings all help to explain many different aspects of the social, economic and cultural life of the city in past times.

We present below a route that has been organised around 12 different locations that are closely linked with the city’s postal and philatelic history. These include the Post House of Barcelona, the Central Post and Telegraphs Office building, Plaça Reial, Palau de la Virreina, the Marcus Chapel, Carrer del Correu Vell, and several others.

This is a journey that is particularly interesting in today’s world, in which new technologies have radically changed our ways of communication and the tools we use for that purpose.
