Barcelona will be hosting a sporting and family event over the weekend of 25 and 26 May, with the Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana fun run to be held on Sunday. The main mobility disruptions will be in the districts of Les Corts, L’Eixample and Sant Martí, with Sarrià – Sant Gervasi and Gràcia affected to a lesser degree, and various bus services too.
The event consists of two runs, one of 5 km and another of 10 km, both following Av. Diagonal from the mountains to the sea. The runs are open to everybody and are timed and recognised according to the regulations of the Catalan Athletics Federation.
Participants should collect their runner’s bag, t-shirt and number bib from the Runners’ Fair, which is being held at Diagonal DiR (Ganduxer, 25) on Friday, 24 and Saturday, 25 May. The City Police will also be at the fair on Friday and Saturday morning to offer a series of children’s activities:
Friday:
- From 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm: Education for Safety Service
Saturday:
- At 10 am: face-painting
- From 10.30 am to 11.30 am: City Police dog patrol
- From 11.45 am to 1 pm: Mounted Unit
- Zumba kids and mobility workshop
Saturday morning also brings the Cursa Kids, with participating children running a route around the Jardins de Piscines i Esports (next to the fair). This event will be held at different times between 10.45 am and 12.05 pm. You can find more details here.
Mobility disruptions
The 10 km run sets off from Av. Diagonal, 686, in front of the Palau Reial de Pedralbes, and finishes in Pg. Garcia Fària, before the junction with C/ Selva de Mar (district of Sant Martí). The 5 km event sets off from the same point and ends in Av. Diagonal, between the streets of Nàpols and Sicília. You can find maps indicating the routes here.
Traffic will not be allowed to circulate in any of the streets making up the route, which will be opened once runners have been through them.
Disruptions to public transport
Several bus services will be affected, with vehicles diverted or routes limited while the run is in progress. These are: D40, D50, H6, H8, H10, H12, H14, H16, V3, V5, V7, V9, V11, V13, V15, V17, V19, V21, V23, V25, V27, V29, V31, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 27, 33, 34, 39, 47, 59, 63, 67, 68, 78, 113, 136, 141, 192, and the blue and red routes operated by the Bus Turístic.
