Safety and prevention. The campaign will prioritise areas around schools, but also apply around the city’s roads and ring roads, focusing on times when children arrive and leave schools.

The City Police are starting a campaign today to improve the safety of school transport. The goal of the week-long campaign is to reduce the number of accidents and victims. At the same time, the campaign seeks to ensure that school transport vehicles comply with safety requisites and the administrative conditions regulating this activity.

The City Police will be making checks on buses and coaches used to transport children to and from school, along with any other commercial vehicles which may be used to provide this service without authorisation.

Special attention will be given to vehicles with the necessary permits and authorisations needed to offer school transport services, as well as occupancy, driver hours and rest periods and whether vehicles have passed the relevant technical inspections.

The campaign will prioritise areas around schools, but also apply around the city’s roads and ring roads, focusing on times when children arrive and leave schools.
