Safety and prevention. The operation will run from 19 to 25 September and pay special attention to rickshaws.

The proliferation of personal mobility vehicles (PMV) in the city, such as electric scooters and segways, can cause road safety issues when their riders interact with other users of public roads. This can mean conduct which poses a risk and puts people safety in jeopardy, meaning it needs to be controlled.

To this end, the City Police launched a campaign yesterday which will run until Sunday and which aims to ensure that these vehicles meet the conditions for PMVs and cycles with more than two wheels to circulate. The idea is to help cut the number of accidents involving these types of vehicles, as well as the number of victims and the severity of injuries.

The police will be verifying the correct use and circulation of PMVs and cycles with more than two wheels, as well as controlling the obligations of riders and drivers of other types of motor vehicles and pedestrians towards PMV riders.

The campaign will also pay special attention to class C1 personal mobility vehicles engaging in economic activity in the city, focusing on the seafront (rickshaws) and premises offering PMV rentals on bikes and cycles with more than two wheels.
