Safety and prevention. Attention will be given to infringements involving a lack of respect for pedestrian crossings and the prohibition on circulating on pavements.

Pedestrians are one of the most vulnerable groups in terms of road accidents, with some of the severest injuries coming when people get run over. In an effort to reduce the number of accidents and victims, the City Police have launched a campaign today (Monday) which will run until Sunday.

Conducted in Coordination with the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT), this prevention campaign is geared towards reducing the risk of pedestrians getting run over and offer them greater protection. To this end, the campaign will pay special attention to infringements by drivers of different types of vehicles, including personal mobility vehicles such as electric scooters.

Specifically, the City Police will seek to correct infringements involving a lack of respect for pedestrian crossings, pedestrian islands and the prohibition on circulating on pavements. Attention will also be given to anti-reglementary conduct which inhibits circulation or can cause unnecessary inconvenience or risk for pedestrians in streets.
