Qualifying for Catalunya Freestyle
This is the first time La Mercè will be hosting Catalunya Freestyle, the first improvisation competition ever for rap in Catalan bringing together impro rappers from all over Catalonia with qualifying sessions around the country and a grand Catalan final.
Freestyle rap consists of improvised lyrics, with artists expressing what they see or feel at the moment they perform.Freestyle rap battles consist of a verbal confrontation between two or more people, the goal being to defeat the adversary with improvised lyrics based on themes and different challenges, fitting in with an instrumental base provided by the DJ. The more skills artists demonstrate (style, metrics, rhymes, structure, content...), the higher their score from the jury.
Artists wishing to take part should sign up the same day, an hour before the start of the competition and at the same location. Capacity is limited.
